Yes, we were able to finish the card on time
and greatly appreciate your quick turn around and beautiful design.
I hope you had a great weekend, and keep up the amazing work. We’ll be watching.
Marthe did a fantastic job accommodating my numerous requests for customisation and delivered a stellar papercut. She was prompt, responsive, friendly, and kept me fully informed during her process. The papercut was amazing! Thanks Marthe.
Commission me – Corporate Clients
Whether you’re looking for illustrations for a brochure or a piece of art to visualise your company’s vision statement, give it a truly unique look and elegant feel with a handcut papercut art.
I’ve worked with several corporate clients looking for a piece to stand out to be used as gifts for their own clients, labels on their products to pieces used in exhibitions of their products.
When a standard design or pre-manifactured piece just won’t work a handcut piece might…
How does it work?
First of all we discuss thoroughly all of your wishes and whether you already have ideas for the birth announcement cards. For this part of the process I allow as much time as we need, to be sure we fully understand each other.
Subsequently I create a design with your wishes and ideas in mind. Of course this design will be send to you for your approval and to check if I’ve incorporated all the previously discussed elements. Usually the design is approved at the first round, since we discussed everything beforehand, but of course it’s always possible to change small things! I need you to be 100% satisfied with the design before I start cutting.
After your approval I start the meticulous process of cutting your custom piece and this needs to be done with a lot of attention and care since every little slip of the knife means the piece is ruined. But this cutting makes the piece “come to live” and get “it’s soul” to speak in the words of my customers. ;)
Once it’s finished I’ll make sure the piece arrives to you as soon as possible in great condition. If you prefer I can send you a picture of the finished papercut before shipping.
Everything will be talked through beforehand and executed exactly according to your personal preferences.
Creating a handcut paper art piece usually takes 1 to 2 months.
But in case you need last-minute papercut to be made, don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss the options (a rush fee might be added).
Prices for a handcut papercut depend on the chosen size and intricacy.
For example, for a backdrop the level of detail will go down, but the size will go up.
For prints, I recommend to have the papercut made 1,5 / 2 times larger than the eventual cards, to create a nice level of detail.
I’ve got a few average prices for the papercuts on the website, but please keep in mind that the actual price of a papercut depend on a lot of things. So don’t hesitate to just contact me and discuss what it is exactely you’re looking and receive a customised quote.
When you’ve decided you want to commemorate that special moment with a papercut, take a look at the “what particulars should I think about?” question below, to make your ideas and wishes clearer.
When you’ve worked out what papercut you want and decided on the details you want to be incorporated, send me an e-mail with your ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll keep in contact via e-mail until we’ve worked most of the details out and I have enough to work with to make the design. This step is extremely important as I want you to be 100% happy with the design I will be making.
With all of your wishes in mind, I’ll draw up a design. After it’s done, I’ll send a picture of it via e-mail for you to review. Please keep in mind that the actual papercut by nature looks different from the sketch. It’s just for you to check if I’ve incorporated all of your wishes. Anything you really want to change? This is your chance to speak up, because after I’ve made the (minor) changes to the design, I’ll start cutting.
Of course I will let you know, once the papercut is finished and ready to be sent.
Size and Shape
With this you can consider the room you intend to hang it in, or a frame you want to put it in.
Also think about whether you want the papercut to fill the frame or to have a border. Most papercuts will have a border of at least 0.5 cm to hold it all together. Of course, if you don’t want such a border, that’s possible as well. You can also decide to get a papercut with a wider border. Then the papercut will be smaller than the actual size of the paper, so it gives an extra dimension behind the picture mount, as you can see in the a few commissions, for example in this wedding anniversary papercut.
I usually make my papercuts out of white paper, but other colours are possible as well.
Would you like an elegant font, or rather a bold and font. Browse through some of my papercuts or in Word to get inspiration.
Would you like to incorporate some text?
Think about a business name or special greeting.
Many of my papercuts have a nature theme such as animals or birds. But as you can see in the “Beachbusje“, “City love” or “Martin” design, other themes are possible as well. Think about what you would like to have incorporated in the design.
Things to incorporate
Besides the theme, are there other things you want to have incorporated?
I often hide things in the papercut design that have something to do with the clients / company. This makes the piece even more personal.
What existing papercuts do you like and which ones don’t you like, and why?
This gives me a better understanding of your taste and will make it easier for me to come up with a design you’ll love.
This really depends on the size and the nature of the design. Please keep in mind that I’m often booked 1 – 2 months in advance. But just let me know, if you have a deadline and we’ll discuss how we might get it done in time.
Please be aware that a rush fee is applied for rush orders.
Once you’ve been in contact with me and we’ve worked out what exactely you want, I’ll start making the design. For this I require a downpayment of 25% of the total amount.
After I have finished the papercut you can pay the rest of the total price, before I ship the papercut to you.
You can pay via PayPal. This is a really safe way to pay online, for both parties.
